About Me

Hi! I'm Wade, a.k.a. Echoes or Andrew, I'm 29 years old, and I'm from the suburbs of Chicago. Some of my hobbies include watching sports, drinking craft beer, playing poker and other games, and, as you might have guessed, I love the outdoors and hiking.

I started out mostly interested in day hiking and peak bagging on my trips out West. Long-distance hiking is practically unheard of where I'm from, but eventually I learned about the Appalachian Trail, and from reading up on that I discovered that there's a west coast variant called the Pacific Crest Trail. Right away I knew I wanted to hike it some day.

After years of research, accumulating gear, doing short practice backpacking trips, and learning through trial and error, I completed my first thru-hike in 2011, the 500-mile Colorado Trail. Now I have my sights set on something bigger -  my ultimate goal - the Pacific Crest Trail.

  2. Hi Yves! I don't know you, you don't know me, but I was wondering if you could tell me how you found your Notch and the Sawyer water filter you used. I'm thinking about getting these two for my PCT in 2013. If you have time, I'd love to hear what you thought about your gear. clairgbxATyahoo.com. If you don't have time, happy hiking.
